Enter Ethereal is a series of three paintings, all depicting the waves of the Pacific Ocean crashing against the Washington coastline. The images feature varying levels of surreal imagery blended into the crashing foam and turbulent waters. They evoke the uncertain and mysterious nature of what lies beneath and beyond. Each piece references an image taken by Emma Goss, a close friend of the artist, on a road trip they took together at a pivotal point in their lives. Waves are a border between the solid land upon which we as a species mostly live our lives, and the somewhat alien, unfamiliar, and unreal landscape of the open ocean. A world that for some is beautiful and alluring and for others holds terror and uncertainty. The works of this project highlight a frothy, churning, ever-changing visual of an immaterial boundary. Enter Ethereal invites you to step into the surreal and unknown.
